About Us

Founded on five years' personal experience of navigating the family courts as a litigant in person — here to make the process clearer, calmer and more manageable for you.

Where Phoenix began

Phoenix Family Law was founded on five years' personal experience of navigating the family courts as a litigant in person. Not five years watching from behind a desk — five years of completing the forms, preparing the statements, organising the bundles, sitting in the waiting rooms and standing up in hearings without a lawyer.

That journey taught us two things. First, the family court process can be understood — the rules are published, the forms have logic to them, and with calm preparation an ordinary person can represent themselves capably. Second, almost nobody tells you that at the start. The language is opaque, the guidance is scattered, and much of the reassurance you need most simply isn't written down anywhere.

Phoenix exists to close that gap: free, plain-English guides for everyone, and hands-on support for those who want someone alongside them who has genuinely been through it.

What lived experience is — and what it isn't

We believe lived experience matters. Someone who has personally prepared a C100, faced a first hearing and worked with the court's paperwork can offer practical, grounded help that no leaflet can.

But we are clear about what that experience does not make us. Phoenix Family Law is not a firm of solicitors and is not regulated by the Solicitors Regulation Authority. We are not legal advisers, and nothing we offer is legal advice. We provide administrative support and McKenzie Friend assistance — you remain the litigant in person, and you review, approve, sign and file all documents yourself.

How we work

Calm

The court process is stressful enough. We keep everything low-pressure: no urgency tactics, no countdown clocks, and a free fit call before any commitment.

Clarity

Plain English, honest boundaries and fixed fees agreed in writing before work begins — you always know exactly what we will and won't do.

🌱

At your own pace

You set the speed and the safe ways to be contacted. Whether you use the free guides alone or want support alongside them is entirely your choice.

Free guides first

The heart of Phoenix is, and stays, free: the Family Court Guide, the interactive flowcharts, the wellbeing tools and the signposting to trusted services. Our paid support services exist alongside that mission, never in front of it — and we will always point you to free alternatives, including legal aid, where they fit your situation better.
